Royston Drenthe is set for a return to professional football and will sign for Spanish side Racing Murcia.

The 33-year-old has been playing recently with amateur side Kozakken Boys after leaving Sparta Rotterdam in 2019.

Drenthe wanted to focus on his rap career, but is now set to come out of retirement and sign for Spanish side Racing Murcia. The story was broke by Feyenoord Transfermarkt on Twitter before the full-back was spotted in Spain by Marca.

The club is currently active in the fourth level of the Spanish football pyramid.

It will be a return to Spain for Drenthe, who has previously played for Real Madrid and Hercules. He also played for clubs such as Feyenoord, Everton, Reading, and Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz in an eventful career. He also earned 1 cap for the Netherlands.
