PSV Eindhoven remain in the race for a top three finish after a slender 1-0 win over Groningen in the Euroborg.

PSV boss Ernest Faber was forced into some changes with Mohamed Ihattaren injured and Cody Gakpo suspended. Noni Madueke started along with Ritsu Doan, who faced his former club.

PSV were the dominant force in the first-half and that eventually resulted in the lead with Denzel Dumfries firing past Sergio Padt. Nick Viergever could have made it 2-0 but his header went over the bar.

Groningen improved after the break and Lars Unnerstall was forced into a good save to deny Mo El Hankouri. Romano Postema and Ajdin Hrustic were also thwarted by the goalkeeper.

Bruma and Kostas Mitroglou missed late chances but PSV held on to claim the three points that keeps them just behind third-placed Feyenoord. Groningen are ninth.
