Speaking to Voetbal International Krol said, “It came out of the blue,”

“I have an idea of what I have to deal with. We include seven Libya internationals, who have done well in Africa. The selection consists of forty men.”

“It’s about the African Champions League. Which usually begins in late February, early March. Until then, i will make do with practice matches. I will definitely coach once in Tripoli, but eighty to ninety percent we play outside Libya.”

The 65-year-old’s last coaching job was with Tunisian side Esperance, but he was sacked last May despite leading the club to their national title. The legendary Ajax and Netherlands defender began his coaching career with Mechelen, and has since had spells with the Egyptian national team and Orlando Pirates among others.
