The 24-year-old spent last season with Austrian side St Polten, scoring four goals in 23 appearances before becoming a free-agent.

He has now been snapped up by Northampton Town, who are managed by Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink, on a deal until the end of the season. Luckassen will be hoping to steer the club away from the relegation zone, with Northampton currently sitting 20th in League one.

Luckassen, who has previously played for AZ Alkmaar, Ross County and Slovan Liberec, joins fellow Dutch forward Kevin van Veen in Northampton.
