A round-up of how all the Dutchman playing in Europe’s biggest league’s fared over the weekend. 

cillessen-barceSpanish La Liga

Jasper Cillessen made his Barcelona debut in Saturday’s tie against CD Alaves, but it didn’t go the way the former Ajax stopper would have hoped as his new side slipped to a shock 2-1 defeat. Neither goal was Cillessen’s fault, but it was not the start he would have dreamed off.

Ryan Donk wasn’t in the squad for Real Betis as they beat Valencia 3-2.

Italian Seria A

Stefan de Vrij netted his first goal in the Serie A to earn Lazio a 1-1 draw against Chievo. Ricardo Kishna started for the Roman’s but was substituted after 52 minutes, while Jonathan de Guzman made his debut for Chievo as a late substitute. Wesley Hoedt was an unused substitute.

Frank de Boer has his first win as Inter Milan boss as two late goals from Mauro Icardi gave his side a 2-1 win at Pescara.

Kevin Strootman put in a strong midfield performance as Roma left it late to record a 3-2 win over Sampdoria in a game that was delayed at half time due to a rain storm.

Kevin Diks was on the bench for Fiorentina for their tie with Genoa which was abandoned after only 27 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch.

Ouasim Bouy was an unused substitute in Palermo’s 3-0 defeat to Napoli.

Timo Letschert didn’t make it off the bench as Sassuolo were beaten 3-1 away to Juventus.

English Premier League

Daley Blind had a poor day at the office as Manchester United lost their local derby 2-1 to Manchester City. The defender made mistakes for both of the City goals, firstly failing to react quickly enough to deny Kevin de Bruyne before playing Kelechi Iheanacho onside for the second. Once again both Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Memphis Depay were not in the squad.

Jordy Clasie returned to the Southampton starting line-up against Arsenal on Saturday and played 65 minutes of the 2-1 defeat. Virgil van Dijk played the full game in the heart of the defence.

Daryl Janmaat nearly scored a spectacular own goal with a poor backpass but recovered to have a solid game as his Watford side came from behind to hammer West Ham 4-2.

Bruno Martins Indi made his debut for Stoke City in the defence alongside Erik Pieters but had a game to forget as Tottenham ran out 4-0 winners. Vincent Janssen came off the bench for Spurs but is still looking for his first Premier League goal. Michel Vorm was once again on the bench for Tottenham, while Ibrahim Afellay is still out injured for Stoke.

Georginio Wijnaldum provided an assist as Liverpool thumped champions Leicester City 4-1. The midfielder laid the ball back for Adam Lallana to hammer one into the top corner before being substituted on 76 minutes.

Ronald Koeman’s Everton moved up to third in the Premier League after a comfortable 3-0 win over Sunderland with Maarten Stekelenburg keeping a clean sheet for the Toffee’s. Patrick van Aanholt played the full game for Sunderland but couldn’t make an impact.

Leroy Fer netted his second goal of the season in controversial style as Swansea City earned a 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Sunday. The midfielder appeared to foul Chelsea centre back Gary Cahill before racing through to score but the referee allowed the goal to stand. Mike van der Hoorn remained an unused sub and is awaiting his Premier League debut.

Marten de Roon made his return from injury as a 57th minute substitute but his Middlesbrough side lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace.

Nathan Ake wasn’t in the squad as Bournemouth beat West Brom 1-0.

English Championship

Maikel Kieftenbeld played the full game as Birmingham City beat Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage. The victory moved his side up to 4th.

Jaap Stam’s Reading left it late with a 95th minute winner seeing them beat Ipswich Town 2-1 on Friday. Roy Beerens and Joey van den Berg both played the full game for the Royals.

Vurnon Anita helped Newcastle United to their 4th straight league win, a 2-0 win at Derby County, which lifts the Magpies up to 2nd in the table. Anita played the full game at right back.

Elvis Manu came off the bench with twenty minutes left but couldn’t help Brighton avoid a 2-0 defeat at home to Brentford.

Huddersfield Town moved four points clear at the top of the table with a 1-0 win over Leeds United. Rajiv van la Parra played the full game for the leaders.

Lex Immers played just over an hour of Cardiff City’s 3-2 defeat to Norwich City but had little impact on the game before being subbed.

Tjarron Chery scored a stunner to put Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s QPR 1-0 up on Blackburn Rovers, but they had to eventually settle for a 1-1 draw. Marvin Emnes came off the bench for Blackburn with 13 minutes left but couldn’t find his first goal for the club.

Urby Emanuelson must wait for his Sheffield Wednesday debut as he didn’t make the squad for the 2-1 win over Wigan. Glen Loovens was an unused sub for the Owls, while Yanick Wildschut came off the bench for Wigan in the second half but couldn’t help find an equaliser.

Paul Gladon started for Wolves in their tie with Burton but made little impact before being substituted in the 1-1 draw. Ola John was not involved in the Wolves squad.

German Bundesliga

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was unlucky not to net for Schalke in the 2-0 defeat against Bayern Munich on Friday with his excellent long-range strike tipped onto the bar by Manuel Neuer. The striker was eventually substituted after suffering minor concussion. Arjen Robben has returned to training but is not yet ready to play for Bayern yet.

Jeffrey Gouweleeuw netted the equaliser as Augsburg came from behind to beat Werder Bremen on Sunday. Paul Verghaegh also featured for Augsburg who claimed their first win of the season.

French Ligue 1

Karim Rekik started at left back for Marseille in their 3-2 defeat at Nice and was brought off in stoppage time after a difficult game.

Portuguese Primeira Liga

Bas Dost made his debut for Sporting Lisbon on Saturday and netted his first goal for the club on 56 minutes to seal a 3-0 victory. Marvin Zeegelaar and Luc Castaignos weren’t in the squad.

Turkish Super Lig

Jan Olde Riekerink’s Galatasaray dropped their first points of the season after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kayserispor. Wesley Sneijder played the full game while Nigel de Jong appeared at half time to make his debut for the Istanbul side.

Dick Advocaat is still searching for his first league win as Fenerbahce boss after a shock 1-0 defeat at home to Bursaspor. Jeremain Lens and Gregory van der Wiel both started the game but made little impact while Robin van Persie came off the bench at half time. Fenerbahce ended the weekend in the bottom three.

Adam Maher was not yet in Osmalinspor’s squad but his new side beat Trabzonspor 2-0.

Russian Premier League

Quincy Promes was crucial once again for Spartak Moscow on Sunday as he set up the winner in a 1-0 victory over local rivals Lokomotiv Moscow.

Lorenzo Ebecilio started for Anzhi against Orenburg on Saturday but was taken off just after the hour mark in the 0-0 draw.

Belgian Jupiler League

Anderlecht came from behind to beat Charleroi 3-2 on Sunday with centre back Bram Nuytinck playing the full game.

Ricardo van Rhijn, Stefano Denswil, and Ruud Vormer all played the full ninety minutes for Club Brugge in their game with Waasland-Beveren on Friday but couldn’t prevent their side from slipping to a 1-0 defeat.

Lars Veldwijk remained on the bench as Kortrijk beat Westerlo 4-1 on Saturday. Both Elton Acolatse and Mitch Apau played the full game for Westerlo.

Sandy Walsh and Marco Bizot played the full game for Genk in their 2-0 defeat at Standard Liege on Sunday.

Guus Hupperts didn’t feature as Lokeren were hammered 3-0 at Gent.

Swiss Super League

Jean-Paul Boetius wasn’t in the squad for Basel in their 3-1 win over Grasshoppers.
