A round-up of how all the Dutchmen playing in Europe’s biggest leagues fared at the weekend.

Maarten Stekelenburg was in the news for the wrong reasons as his fault handed France a 1-0 win over Netherlands, but he was a hero for Ronald Koeman’s Everton on Saturday, saving two penalties in a 1-1 draw with Manchester City.

Bruno Martins Indi and Erik Pieters kept a clean sheet in the heart of the Stoke City defence as their side recorded a 2-0 win over bottom of the table Sunderland. Patrick van Aanholt played 40 minutes for the Black Cats before coming off injured.

Daley Blind helped Manchester United hold Liverpool to a 0-0 draw on Monday night. The Dutchman continued at left back and played the full game while Memphis Depay and Timothy Fosu-Mensah were not involved.

Vincent Janssen was back in the Tottenham starting line-up on Saturday but couldn’t net his first Premier League goal in a 1-1 draw against West Brom.

Both Virgil van Dijk and Jordy Clasie put in impressive performances for Southampton on Sunday as they recorded a 3-1 win over Burnley. Van Dijk was a colossus at the back once again, making more tackles than any of his teammates and seven clearances.

Middlesbrough’s poor form continued on Sunday in a 1-0 defeat at home to Watford. Maarten de Roon played 88 minutes of the game for Boro but struggled to make a big impact on the game.

Nathan Ake was an unused substitute as Bournemouth hammered Hull City 6-1.

English Championship

Saturday saw Jaap Stam’s Reading and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s QPR play out a 1-1 draw. Roy Beerens and Joey van den Berg played the full game for Reading, while on the other side Tjarron Chery featured.

Yanick Wildschut started for Wigan in their tie against Burton but couldn’t make an impact in the 0-0 draw and was taken off after 78 minutes.

Lex Immers came off the bench for Cardiff City on 65 minutes of their 2-1 win over Bristol City.

Rajiv van la Parra played the full ninety minutes of Huddersfield Town’s 1-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday. Glen Loovens came off the bench for the Owls on 92 minutes.

Maikel Kieftenbeld was an unused substitute for Birmingham City as they went down 3-1 to Nottingham Forest.

Marvin Emnes played the full game but couldn’t break the deadlock as Blackburn Rovers drew 0-0 with Ipswich Town.

Vurnon Anita played the full 90 minutes of Newcastle United’s 3-1 win over Brentford at right back.

Spanish La Liga

Ryan Babel came off the bench for Deportivo before the hour mark against Barcelona but couldn’t make an impact as his side went down 4-0. Jasper Cillessen missed the tie through injury.

Ryan Donk was an unused substitute for Real Betis in their 6-1 defeat against Real Madrid.

German Bundesliga

Arjen Robben started for Bayern Munich on Saturday in their tie against Eintracht Frankfurt and scored after ten minutes to put his side ahead. The winger was substituted with his side 2-1 up and two minutes after Frankfurt netted an equaliser to hold Bayern to a 2-2 draw.

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar started on the bench for Schalke in their tie with Augsburg but appeared from the bench after only 24 minutes. The striker couldn’t lead his side to victory though as they settled for a 1-1 draw. Paul Verhaegh played the full game for Augsburg.

Wolfsburg’s terrible start to the season continued on Sunday as they were defeated 1-0 at home by Red Bull Leipzig. Jeffrey Bruma played the full game for the hosts but couldn’s keep a clean sheet once again.

French Ligue 1

Karim Rekik was an unused substitute for Marseille in their 1-0 win over Metz.

Italian Serie A

Wesley Hoedt and Stefan de Vrij started together in the heart of the Lazio defence for their tie with Bologna on Sunday. They couldn’t keep a clean sheet though with Lazio held to a surprise 1-1 draw. Ricardo Kishna was left out of the Lazio squad.

Jonathan De Guzman was a 65th minute substitute for Chievo in their 3-1 defeat at home to AC Milan.

Kevin Diks was an unused substitute in Fiorentina’s 0-0 draw with Atalanta.

Timo Letschert was not in Sassuolo’s squad for their 2-1 win over Crotone.

Kevin Strootman missed Roma’s 3-1 win at Napoli through injury.

Russian Premier League

Quincy Promes missed Spartak Moscow’s 1-0 win over Rostov through injury.

Swiss Super League

Jean-Paul Boetius was left out of Basel’s squad for their 3-0 win over Luzern.

Danish Superliga

Rafael van der Vaart played 53 minutes of Midtylland’s 2-0 win over AaB before being substituted. The Dutchman is still waiting to complete his first 90 minutes for the club.

Turkish Super Lig

Wesley Sneijder missed Galatasaray’s 1-0 win over Genclerbirligi through injury while Nigel de Jong was an unused substitute.

Robin van Persie and Gregory van der Wiel both played the full ninety minutes of Fenerbahce’s 1-1 draw with Alanyaspor.

Adam Maher was an unused substitute for Osmanlispor in their 0-0 draw at Bursaspor.
