Sky Sports in England are reporting that Tottenham have told Sherwood that he will be replaced in the summer after a number of poor results recently.
Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal is currently the favourite having held talks with the Premier League club when they sacked Andre Villas Boas last December. The ex-Barcelona and Bayern coach was unwilling to move to London then, as he felt it would interfere with his preparations for this summers World Cup, but having already stated he wants to manage in England next season, a deal could finally be done.
Another candidate is Ajax coach Frank de Boer, who has also been heavily linked with the White Hart Lane club in the past few months, but he is unlikely to leave the Amsterdam club anytime soon.
De Boer has always stated his commitment to Ajax, and has said several times this season that he sees no reason to leave any time soon, with the task of guiding the club into the Champions League knockout stages a goal of his.
Louis van Gaal seems a perfect fit for the English club, and with the 62-year-old crying out for a crack at the Premier League before he retires, all the pieces seem to be falling into place.
