Following on from last week’s 3-2 win at fellow title challengers Sparta Rotterdam, Dordrecht faced another title hopeful in the shape of FC Eindhoven & like last week they won a thrilling encounter. The manor of the victory however was as far removed from last week as possible, In Rotterdam, Dordrecht lead 3-0 after 30 minutes before stumbling over the line however this week they trailed Eindhoven by three goals to one with 18 minutes on the clock before a stunning comeback which culminated in Yoell van Nieff winning the game deep into injury with a penalty to complete his hat trick. Dordrecht lead the table by seven points from Sparta after the Rotterdam based side were beaten 2-1 by Ajax Jong, it was the Amsterdam sides first win since a 2-1 success at Eindhoven & came on the back of seven successive defeats.
Willem II are up to third place, level on points with Sparta Rotterdam after they cruised to a 4-1 win at Helmond Sport in a Brabant derby. Bruno Andrade scored twice against his old side & Ruud Boymans notched his 13th of the season, Helmond’s cause wasn’t helped by the first half sending off of striker Davy Brouwers. A last minute penalty denied De Graafschap maximum points at home to lowly Achilles 29, the scorer was Freek Thoone who is reportedly a target for De Graafschap in the winter transfer window. Volendam move up to sixth place after they inflicted a third successive loss on MVV Maastricht.
Oss stay at the bottom of the table but they recorded a fine 2-1 win at Telstar & are now three games unbeaten, they are now level on points with Achilles 29 & two points behind Almere City who enjoyed a 1-0 win over fellow strugglers Den Bosch at the weekend. VVV Venlo ended Excelsior’s good run with a Jules Reimerink penalty & PSV Jong continue their climb up the table & are now six games unbeaten following a 2-0 success in Emmen, the home side have now lost four of their last five games. In the weekends other game Twente Jong continued their good recent home form with a 3-2 win over Fortuna Sittard.
