Dordrecht were held to a 1-1 draw at home to De Graafschap on Friday & it is now two games without a win for the Schapenkoppen although talk of a slump is premature as two successive draws take their unbeaten tally to eight games. Anco Jansen gave De Graafschap the lead but it took just four minutes for Dordrecht to level through Yoell van Nieff, his seventh goal since joining on loan from Groningen.
Willem II climb two places into second spot after a brace from Bruno Andrade gave them a 2-1 win over a Fortuna Sittard side who have now lost four on the spin. Eindhoven & Sparta Rotterdam both drop a place after home draws left them with mixed feelings. Eindhoven looked dead & buried going into injury time against Volendam as they were 3-1 down but they struck twice at the death to grab an unlikely point, Sparta on the other hand were hit by a late Veldwijk strike as local rivals Excelsior left the Castle with a point in the first game since Sparta fired Coach Adrie Bogers.
VVV Venlo failed to close the gap on the top five after they lost 1-0 at Den Bosch with former VVV man Barry Maguire helping his new side to their fourth successive victory thanks to an Eric Quekel goal, his eighth in eleven starts. A brace apiece from Mark Janssen & Alexander Bannink meant the spoils were shared in Helmond’s game & Emmen & PSV Jong threw away a 2-0 lead at Ajax Jong on Monday night as they drew 2-2 thanks to two Ajax Jong goals in the last 13 minutes, PSV Jong also had Heesakkers sent off after a handball which led to the penalty that brought Ajax Jong back into the game.
Achilles 29 drop to the foot of the table after they lost the battle of the bottom two against Oss 4-1, the visitors struck twice in injury time to give the scoreline a flattering look, Almere City ended Twente Jong’s four match winning run with a convincing 3-0 home victory & Telstar continue to slide down the table after losing 2-0 at MVV Maastricht, The Witte Leeuwen have now won just once in their last twelve outings.
