dordrBy their own high standards set this season, Yoell van Nieff & Erixson Danso were in the midst of a scoring drought having gone three & four games respectively without a goal however that ended on Saturday as both hit a brace in Dordrecht’s 4-2 win over second bottom Achilles 29 who put up a brave fight after finding themselves 3-0 down with just 19 minutes on the clock. Dordrecht now find themselves six points clear at the top of Eindhoven could only manage a 0-0 home draw with local rivals Helmond Sport & Willem II lost the big clash with fellow promotion chasers VVV Venlo. After an excellent win at Sparta Rotterdam last week Willem II suffered back to back home defeats as Pim Balkestein scored the winner for VVV Venlo three minutes from time putting them just one point behind the Tilburg side & four points ahead of Sparta Rotterdam in fifth who suffered a third straight loss & a second straight defeat under new Coach Gert Kruys as they were beaten by the side he used to Coach, Volendam.

Oss failed to capitalise on Achilles loss at Dordrecht & lift themselves off the foot of the table as they were beaten in the Monday night game at Ajax Jong, on loan Guyon Phillips took his tally so far to a respectable eight goals for Oss in a game watched by a disappointing crowd of just 342. Telstar drop to third bottom although they are eight points above Oss as they were easily beaten at Emmen by four goals to one, Emmen hitting four for the second week running & their 20th goal in seven games.

De Graafschap scored two late goals last week to claim three points at PSV Jong, they were at it again this week when an injury time strike from Dean Koolhof gave them a 101 draw at Almere & protected Jimmy Calderwood’s unbeaten start in the process, Den Bosch recorded a sixth win in seven unbeaten games as goals from Quekel & van den Broek saw them come from behind at Fortuna Sittard. Eric Quekel has been an inspired signing, the former Helmond Sport hitman has bagged 12 goals in just 15 starts this season. Martinus Dijkhuizen remains unbeaten at the helm of Excelsior as they beat PSV Jong 2-1 with Roda JC target Lars Veldwijk netting both goals & MVV Maastricht were denied a rare win as a late penalty gave Twente Jong a share of spoils after Antonio Stankov had put out of form Maastricht into the lead.
