After spending all season proudly at the top of the table Dordrecht find themselves in second place following a disastrous second half display at home to Volendam. Leading 3-0 at the break thanks to a Paul Gladon hat trick the talk amongst the vast majority of the 2604 fans was how many Dordrecht would score, what they didn’t anticipate was a Volendam comeback but that is what happened as Schilder, Sheotahaul & free scoring Rob Muhren scored to give the visitors an unlikely point & kept Dordrecht from going back to the top of the table after Willem II won the day before. Willem II welcomed joint bottom side Oss & came through victorious after a tough encounter including a nervous last nine minutes after Oss had pulled the score back to 2-1 but they couldn’t muster an unlikely leveller.
VVV Venlo regained third place after a comfortable 3-0 success at bottom of the table Achilles 29, top scorer Leon de Kogel on target for Venlo, Excelsior slip to fourth after their run of three straight wins was ended by another form side in the shape of Fortuna Sittard. Excelsior will be kicking themselves after leading 2-0 with 60 minutes on the clock but Fortuna are tough to beat at home & a point each will be looked upon as a decent return as both sides continue their unbeaten runs.
Eindhoven lost the derby with PSV Jong despite taking the lead through Beekmans, PSV Jong are now up to 6th place and have won four of their last five games, Sparta Rotterdam though are a club in crisis following a 1-0 home loss to Twente Jong who arrived having lost their last five games. Sparta have now lost seven of their last nine games & have only won one in eight under Gert Kruys, the Period two champions sit in mid table. Ajax Jong are now five games unbeaten following a comfortable 3-0 away success at third bottom Almere City, MVV Maastricht take their unbeaten run to seven games although they will be slightly disappointed to have been held to a goalless draw at home to Helmond Sport. Another side seemingly on the up are Telstar who had a fine 1-0 win at Den Bosch, their third on the trot & De Graafschap won the Monday night fixture 2-1 at mid table Emmen.
