While his fellow Heerenveen team-mates boarded a plane to the Algarve for a training camp, Wolff Eikrem was spotted watching Cardiff City beat Newcastle United in the FA Cup at St James Park.
The midfielder’s presence intensifies rumours that Solskjaer will make the 23-year-old his first signing as Cardiff City boss, after the Norwegian took over the side this week.
Solskjaer was Eikrem’s boss at Molde, before the midfielder left to join Heerenveen in the summer, but the two seem set for a quick reunion.
A former Manchester United youth player, Eikrem has been excellent since joining Heerenveen, and has helped Marco van Basten’s side to 5th in the league at the winter break.
When asked by Voetbal International, why he was watching the Cardiff City match, Eikrem was tight lipped, stating only, “I’m here for a football game.”
Heerenveen have the 23-year-old under contract for the next two years, and will expect a nice fee if they are to consider selling the midfielder this month.
