De Toekomst product Carel Eiting has put pen to paper on a new 5 year deal which runs until 2022, while the transfer of Croatian defender Mateo Barac has hit a stumbling block due to concerns over the player’s health.

The Jong Ajax midfielder’s current deal was set to expire next year and the Amsterdam hierarchy were keen to tie down the promising youth product. Eiting, 19, has consistently risen through the youth ranks of both Ajax and the Netherlands and will be hoping to build on a solid campaign with Jong Ajax to merit some game time in the first team.
Meanwhile, the long running transfer saga of Osijek defender Barac appears to have completely lost momentum. De Telegraaf are reporting that the Croat has failed a medical and thus the transfer will not go through. While Ajax have not commented on these reports at this time, there is some suggestion that the player’s heart is the cause for concern; a situation that would no doubt reproduce harrowing memories for all involved with the club if true.
