Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad has confirmed the signing of Feyenoord midfielder Karim El Ahmadi.

The 33-year-old’s desire to leave Feyenoord became clear after Morocco’s World Cup exit with several clubs from France showing interest.

However, El Ahmadi has decided on a future in the Middle-East with Al-Ittihad confirming his arrival on a two-year deal. It is unclear whether Feyenoord receives a transfer fee for the Moroccan, who had a year left on his current deal.

El Ahmadi brings a close to his second spell with Feyenoord, having rejoined the Rotterdammers from Aston Villa back in 2014. The midfielder has made a total of 266 appearances for Feyenoord, scoring 20 goals and contributing 19 assists.

Feyenoord are now likely to pursue a deal for Southampton’s Jordy Clasie, who has stated his desire to return to De Kuip this summer.
