el ghazi aja excOn Friday Netherlands coach Danny Blind named his provisional squad for the ties with Kazakhstan and Czech Republic next month, and for the first time Anwar El Ghazi’s name was included.

The Ajax winger is currently the top scorer in the Eredivisie with seven goals in six matches, and has been involved in a tug of war between the country of his birth Netherlands and the nation of his parents Morocco, despite representing the former at U21 level.

The African country has already persuaded Hakim Ziyech to switch allegiances from Netherlands to Morocco this week, and held talks with El Ghazi earlier this year. However it appears El Ghazi has finally made his choice, and will play for Netherlands.

The 20-year-old took to Twitter to announce his happiness over his call-up to Netherlands, and confirmed his decision to represent the Oranje.

El Ghazi tweeted, “Very pleased with my preselection for Orange. With this I made my choice. I’ve thought about it and stand there for one hundred percent. ”

El Ghazi will only be officially bound to Netherlands should he play in a competitive tie, so if Blind decides to drop the winger by next week then he could still switch to Morocco.
