Nasser El Khayati became the first ever ADO Den Haag player to net four goals in one game as they defeated Excelsior 4-2 in Rotterdam.

ADO Den Haag, who began with new signings Tomas Necid and Giovanni Troupee, took the lead on 21 minutes from the penalty spot with El Khayati scoring after Lorenzo Burnet brought down Elson Hooi.

Just before half-time, it was 2-0 with El Khayati curling the ball into the top corner from just outside the box. On 65 minutes, Necid set up El Khayati to net his hat-trick with a low strike into the bottom corner. Four minutes later El Khayati made it four with a great curling strike.

Through Mikael Anderson and Denis Mahmudov, Excelsior mounted a comeback, but ADO Den Haag comfortably saw out their 4-2 victory.

After a difficult start to the campaign, ADO Den Haag now have two wins in a row, while Excelsior remain on four points.
