Eljero Elia has revealed that he advised his friend Memphis Depay to join a team such as Tottenham Hotspur instead of making the move to Manchester United.

The winger made the move to Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven in 2015 but has struggled to meet expectations with the Premier League giants since then. Memphis has only made eight appearances in all competitions this season, with only one start, and it appears certain that he will be sent out on loan in January.
Speaking to Helden Magazine, Feyenoord winger Eljero Elia has revealed that he advised Memphis against his move to Manchester United.
He said, “I thought Memphis first had to make a stop, first choose a club like Tottenham Hotspur.
“United are so big, the pressure is so high.
“He had to immediately make an impact at such a club, while everyone would watch him.
“Memphis accepted my opinion, but said, ‘I’ll try to give my all and I’m confident that I can succeed there.”
