elia southElia is uncertain about his future, though he would, “100% love” to stay at Southampton once his loan period ends. In speaking to the Southampton Echo, Elia said the club has not approached the subject, but in speaking to manager Ronald Koeman, he believes the fellow Dutchman has positive feelings on the move.

Elia said, “I want to stay 100 per cent, so it is to the club what they decide.

“Otherwise, I have one contracted year with Werder Bremen.

“I will not stay at Werder Bremen, but I will go to another club then if they don’t want me.”

The 28-year-old has pace and skill, and has impressed at his time at St. Mary’s, though he hasn’t necessarily been a stand-out player. With some time off and a preseason training with Koeman and the squad, Elia could fit well into the Southampton line-up, should the club decide to bring him over for good.

The 29-year old has netted twice in 13 appearances.
