FC Twente failed to go top of the Eredivisie after being held by a 1-1 draw by Emmen.

FC Twente headed into the clash knowing a win by two goals would put them top of the table above Heerenveen.

The hosts dominated the first-half but they failed to take the lead despite chances for Danilo and Vaclav Cerny. Three minutes after the break, Cerny did make it 1-0 after an error by Simon Tibbling.

Twente failed to kill the game and in the 68th minute, Michael de Leeuw netted on the rebound to make it 1-1. The forward thought he had won it soon after for Emmen, but this time the offside flag denied him.

The point means Twente are now 4th while Emmen are 15th with two points.
