The schedule for the 2016/17 Eredivisie was released on Tuesday by the KNVB.

aja psv bruThe new season will get underway on Friday the 5th of August with NEC hosting PEC Zwolle, while champions PSV, Ajax and Feyenoord all start with away ties. PSV are at Utrecht, Ajax at newly promoted Sparta Rotterdam and Feyenoord travelling to Groningen.

The uncertainty over the future of FC Twente means that both the Enschede club and De Graafschap have been included in the schedule. If Twente’s relegation is confirmed this week then it will be De Graafschap that starts the season with a home tie against Excelsior.

Full opening schedule:

Friday 5th of June: NEC v PEC Zwolle

Saturday 6th of June: Willem II v Vitesse, Utrecht v PSV, De Graafschap/Twente v Excelsior, ADO Den Haag v Go Ahead Eagles

Sunday 7th of June: Groningen v Feyenoord, AZ v Heerenveen, Sparta Rotterdam v Ajax, Roda JC v Heracles

The first major game of the season will see PSV host Feyenoord on the 18th of September while the first meeting of PSV and Ajax comes on the 18th of December in Amsterdam. Sunday the 23rd of October will be the date for Feyenoord v Ajax.
