Dennis Demmers was taking charge of Go Ahead Eagles for the first time in Leeuwarden after replacing the sacked Foeke Booy, and for most of the game his side frustrated a dominant Cambuur side.
Sander van der Streek and Mikhail Rosheuvel both had efforts cleared off the line for Cambuur, while Bartholomew Ogbeche had the ball in the net, only for the linesman to rule it out for offside.
Finally in the 83rd minute substitute Sebastian Steblecki fired past Mikey van der Haart to give Cambuur the win their dominance deserved. Its the first time in Eredivisie history that Cambuur have won four home games in a row and they rise up to eighth in the table.
Go Ahead Eagles remain 2nd bottom and five points away from safety with five games to go.
