Heerenveen surrendered sixth place to PEC Zwolle after being held to a 1-1 draw with NAC Breda at the Abe Lenstra Stadion.

heenac jdjdNAC Breda went into the game in good form after wins against both Go Ahead Eagles and Utrecht, and Robert Maaskant’s side created several opportunities early on against Heerenveen, but both Demy de Zeeuw and Mats Seuntjens failed to open the scoring.

The hosts improved after the break but a strong strike from Kenny Otigba, and a curling effort from Luciano Slagveer could not break the deadlock. Heerenveen sent on Henk Veerman to use as a battering ram in the box, but the tall striker could not make the difference, while Otigba had an effort cleared off the line as NAC held on for a point.

Heerenveen drop into 7th place, while NAC Breda climb out of the bottom three into 15th before relegation rivals Dordrecht and Heracles face off later on Saturday night.
