An efficient PSV kept their one point lead at the top of the Eredivisie after beating FC Twente 2-0 at the Philips Stadion.

aaadejongAfter Ajax beat Utrecht earlier on Sunday the pressure was on PSV to beat Twente, but the visitors created the best chance early on with Jeroen Zoet having to deny Torgeir Borven.

On 21 minutes PSV had the lead as Luuk de Jong met a corner at the back post, and his header squeezed into the top corner. In first half injury time De Jong clipped a ball over the top for Luciano Narsingh, and the wingers ball across the box was side-footed into the net by Georginio Wijnaldum for PSV’s second.

Twente posed a threat in the second half, but they could not find a way back into the game, and only a fine stop by debutante goalkeeper Sonny Stevens prevented Memphis Depay’s header from giving PSV a bigger win.

PSV now go into the crucial tie against Feyenoord on Wednesday with a one point lead at the top, while Twente slip to 6th.
