PSV’s stroll towards the Eredivisie title continued on Saturday night as two goals from Memphis Depay gave them a 3-1 win over Utrecht at the Philips Stadion.

0111 depayThe first half was a struggle for the leaders with Utrecht defending effectively and limiting PSV to half chances, but goalkeeper Robbin Ruiter was forced into an excellent save just before the break from Luuk de Jong’s header.

Two minutes after the break PSV had their breakthrough as Luciano Narsingh tapped in from close range after Luuk de Jong flicked on Memphis Depay’s cross.

Three minutes later Depay made it 2-0 as the winger brilliantly jinked through the Utrecht defence before slamming the ball past Ruiter and into the bottom corner.

Utrecht responded though and after a lovely team move on 70 minutes Yassine Ayoub pulled a goal back with a great flicked finish over Jeroen Zoet. After the goal the visitors threatened but any chance of a comeback was ended in the 90th minute by Depay who slammed a free kick through the wall and past a stranded Ruiter.

PSV now move 15 points clear of second place Ajax, who play on Sunday while Utrecht stay 13th.
