NAC Breda came out on top in a seven goal thriller against Utrecht to move them within touching distance of safety.

urrnacUtrecht went into the game having scored twelve goals in their last three home matches, but despite controlling the opening half an hour against NAC, it was the visitors who took the lead with Erik Falkenburg finishing on the rebound after his initial header was palmed out by Robbin Ruiter.

However the lead only lasted a minute before Edouard Duplan bundled his way into the NAC box before sending a low strike past Jelle ten Rouwelaar to level the scores.

Falkenburg was a thorn in the home side’s defence throughout the first period and three minutes into the second half the forward nodded in from close range to restore NAC’s lead, but one again Utrecht came back as Gevero Markiet met Yassin Ayoub’s free kick to make it 2-2 on 71 minutes.

Utrecht were only level for four minutes as another header, this time from Kenny van der Weg, put NAC Breda 3-2 up before substitute Mats Seuntjes sealed the victory with a low strike.

After some terrible NAC defending Rubio Rubin bundled in from close range with three minutes to go, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation as the away side held on for a crucial three points.

NAC are now level on points with Heracles in 15th place, while Utrecht sit 12th.
