Willem II boosted their chances of reaching the end of season play-offs with a 2-1 win over bottom side Dordrecht on Saturday evening.

saharBoth teams were promoted to the Eredivisie last season, but with Dordrecht clinging onto safety at the bottom of the league, and Willem II pushing for Europe they could not behaving more contrasting campaigns.

The home side were the superior side in the first half and deservedly took the lead after 39th minute when Ben Sahar raced onto a pass from Ali Messaoud before finishing past Filip Kurto. Willem II continued to dominate after the break and Sahar made it 2-0 on the hour mark after reacting quickly to a rebound.

Samuel Armenteros missed a great opportunity to make it 3-0, and despite Dordrecht pulling a goal back through Anthony Biekman with a minute to go, Willem II held on for a win which lifts them into 8th.

Dordrecht are now 10 points adrift of safety and with only six games left they seem odds on for automatic relegation.
