Every week in the 2018/19 season, Football-Oranje’s Michael Statham gives you his predictions and betting tips for each Dutch Eredivisie round. Michael competes against a different special guest each week. This time, it’s Crypto, a Dutch football betting tipster who is also offering his betting tips for this weekend.

Friday 15th February

ADO Den Haag v PEC Zwolle

Michael’s prediction: The middle of the Eredivisie table is very congested; the difference though is that PEC are on the way up and ADO are slipping down. Tomas Necid’s form gives ADO a good opportunity to win, but confidence is so huge in football, that I think it’ll help PEC’s unbeaten run continue. 1-1 | Tip: PEC Zwolle double chance.

Crypto’s prediction: Last week, I was disappointed that Den Haag lost to Emmen on the road. After 2-0, they scored two goals but it wasn’t enough for the points. After the Winter break, PEC have picked up 9 points against Feyenoord, Heracles and Utrecht. 1-2 | Tip: Zwolle +0.25 Asian hanidcap.

Saturday 16th February

AZ v VVV-Venlo

Michael’s prediction: AZ have opened up a seven point gap to the team in fifth. The team have looked a lot more confident ever since Calvin Stengs’s return from injury – he has been a breath of fresh air and added a different edge that was sorely missing against some of the league’s weaker sides before. Stengs has also injected more impetus into the likes of Guus Til, who again looks like the goal threat that grew his reputation last season. Despite VVV’s seventh position, I don’t think they’ll have the ball much on Saturday and will fall to a convincing defeat. 3-1 | Tip: AZ -1.5 Asian handicap.

Crypto’s prediction: The most important thing is Alkmaar have not conceded any goals in 2019 (5 games). Against Venlo, I am expecting an easy AZ win. 2-0 | Tip: AZ -1.5 Asian handicap.

Heracles v Fortuna Sittard

Michael’s prediction: After beating Ajax, Heracles could take a huge moral step in the right direction by beating table rivals Fortuna. Some consistency would help the Almelo side regain a season that has certainly been flagging since the Autumn finished. Fortuna beat Excelsior 4-1 last weekend, but I predict Heracles to put on a good performance and be a level above their visitors. 3-1 | Tip: Over 2.5 goals.

Crypto’s prediction: I have watched Heracles against Ajax and they really played well. And for me, the half-time result is very important. I am on the home team’s side. 2-1 | Tip: Heracles half-time win.

Heerenveen v PSV

Michael’s prediction: Heerenveen have been relatively mid-table all season but surely alarm bells must be ringing after falling to fifteenth. PSV fought back well despite dropping points in Utrecht last time out [2-2]. I think that fighting spirit matched with Heerenveen’s leaky defence will definitely see a PSV victory. 1-3 | Tip: PSV -1.5 Asian handicap.

Crypto’s prediction: Since 2013, PSV could not win any game against Heerenveeen on the road. For this game, I am expecting a victory for PSV. 1-3 | Tip: PSV second-half goals over 1.5.

Vitesse v Willem II

Michael’s prediction: Vitesse are fifth, with three wins from ten in all competitions, but sit eight points above the bottom three and seven points behind AZ in fourth; they’re certainly looking down rather than up. Willem II have played some better quality football lately and I think a quick tempo on the counter-attack would lead to Vitesse mistakes again. I sense a lucky Vitesse win though to end some poor form. 2-1 | Tip: Both teams to score.

Crypto’s prediction: This game is very hard to predict the winner. Vitesse have missing players and I believe that Willem II can score against Vitesse. 2-2 | Tip: Both teams to score.

Sunday 17th February

Ajax v NAC Breda

Michael’s prediction: Will Ajax feel flat after such an energy-sapping performance – both physically and mentally – against Real Madrid? They were exceptional and a level far above what the majority of Eredivisie teams could only dream to produce. NAC will still have no chance though in Amsterdam. 4-0 | Tip: Ajax -2.5 Asian handicap.

Crypto’s prediction: Ajax were so unlucky at CL game against Real Madrid. An Ajax goal was unfairly cancelled by a VAR decison. No need to say so many things for this game. I’m expecting a 3-0 or 4-0. 4-0 | Tip: Ajax team goals over 3.5.

Excelsior v Emmen

Michael’s prediction: This match is incredibly difficult to predict. Both are down the bottom of the table and they are also highly inconsistent. Emmen can surprise away from home and will be upbeat after beating ADO. A draw is the easy result to choose but I predict Excelsior to pick up three points. 2-1 | Tip: Both teams to score.

Crypto’s prediction: Both team need points. It seems a ‘draw game’. I’m also expecting a goal-fest. 2-2 | Tip: Over 2.5 goals.

Groningen v Feyenoord

Michael’s prediction: I think Groningen will push Feyenoord hard here and continue their good run of form. A lot has been said about Feyenoord’s inability to beat the lower sides, often due to a lack of passion. 1-1 | Tip: Both teams to score.

Crypto’s prediction: This will be another difficult game for Feyenoord, on the road. Feyenoord can win this game but Groningen will try hard to grab points. 1-2 | Tip: Groningen +1.5 Asian handicap.

De Graafschap v Utrecht

Michael’s prediction: Utrecht are overdue a win and this is a good place to get one. Their quality will tell if they can play as well as they did against PSV. 2-4 | Tip: Over 2.5 goals.

Crypto’s prediction: Utrecht have not won any games in 2019. Now is the time for the first win. 0-2 | Tip: Utrecht win.
