Roda JC 1-1 Helmond Sport (2-1 on aggregate)
Roda JC survived a massive scare to keep their chances of Eredivisie survival alive.
Leading 1-0 from the away leg, Roda JC were seemingly easing to the play-off final, but Helmond Sport were so close to an upset in Kerkrade. Benjamin van Leer had to save an early Steven Edwards penalty to deny the visitors, before Mikhail Rosheuvel was sent off for a rash challenge to reduce Roda to ten men before the break.
Five minutes into the second half, Furhgill Zeldenrust gave Helmond Sport a deserved lead before they missed several chances to find the crucial second goal. With the game heading for extra time, Gyliano van Velzen struck in the 90th minute to equalise for Roda JC and keep them on course to remain in the Eredivisie.
Roda JC will now meet MVV in the final.
Cambuur 1-2 MVV (2-3 on aggregate)
MVV came from behind to stun Cambuur and book their place in the final against Roda JC.
Cambuur dominated proceedings and led just before the hour mark when Martijn Barto netted from close range. However, with ten minutes left Steven Pereira capitalised on poor defending to equalise for MVV. Then in the 90th minute, Thomas Verheydt stunned the hosts by netting a header to send MVV through.
Cambuur will now remain in the Eerste Divisie for another year, while MVV are two games away from the Dutch top flight.
NEC 1-0 Emmen (4-1 on aggregate)
NEC eased into the final after a straight forward victory over Emmen on Sunday.
Kévin Mayi scored the only goal of the game when he raced onto Gregor Breinburg’s fine ball over the top before lashing his shot into the bottom corner.
NEC will now meet NAC Breda in the final.
NAC 2-0 Volendam (4-2 on aggregate)
NAC Breda eased into the play-off final after a simple win over Volendam.
Cyriel Dessers was the home side’s hero with two goals in the opening 25 minutes. The Belgian fired in the opener with a low strike into the corner before he headed in the second.
Volendam could muster up no response and their season limped to an end as NAC set up their clash with NEC.
