De Graafschap are on the verge of relegation after being hammered 4-1 by Go Ahead Eagles in Deventer.

The home side were ahead after only 17 minutes with Randy Wolters receiving Overbeek’s pass before firing past Hidde Jurjus. On the half hour mark De Graafschap were reduced to ten men when Ted van de Pavert brought down Overbeek, earning himself a red and Go Ahead Eagles a penalty. Sander Duits made no mistake from the spot to make it 2-0.

Alexander Bannink pulled one back on 40 minutes for the visitors, but Kenny Teijsse restored the two goal lead before the break. In the second half Go Ahead dominated and added a fourth on 90 minutes as Wolters grabbed his second.

De Graafschap now need to turn around the deficit on Sunday to avoid going down.

NAC Breda 2-1 Willem II

NAC Breda took a step towards an Eredivisie return with a 2-1 win over Willem II.

The potential relegation of FC Twente has given hope that Willem II will automatically survive regardless of the result in Breda. However, with the final decision set to be made in a few weeks Willem II need to still beat NAC Breda to confirm their top flight status.

Willem II made the perfect start with Guus Hupperts netting after three minutes, but NAC Breda dominated the game from that point and turned it around in the second half. Kevin Brands equalised on 61 minutes before Mats Seuntjens sealed victory for the hosts with five minutes to go with a free kick which fooled Kostas Lamprou.

The second leg takes place in Tilburg on Sunday.
