Go Ahead Eagles face a battle to remain in the Eredivisie after they were defeated in the first leg of their play-off against De Graafschap.

The Deventer side were the better side in the first half, but failed to find the net with Lars Lambooij striking the post, while Glynor Plet also missing several chances. However De Graafschap improved after the break, and they found the winning goal on 78 minutes when Ted van de Pavert found the back of the net with a header. Go Ahead Eagles now need a big performance on Monday to avoid relegation.

Volendam 2-1 Eindhoven

FC Volendam have the edge over Eerste Divisie runners up FC Eindhoven going into the second leg after an exciting finish gave the home side a 2-1 win.

After a tepid first half the game finally showed signs of life in the 67th minute, when Henny Schilder tapped in Tom Overtoom’s corner to put Volendam 1-0 up. FC Eindhoven equalised in the 90th minute with Branco van den Boomen’s free kick hitting the bar and Anthony van der Hurk tapping into the empty net, but Volendam went straight up the other end and Kevin van Kippersluis found the winner.

Emmen 0-1 Roda JC

Roda JC’s chances of returning to the Eredivisie after one season increased after a slim 1-0 win at FC Emmen. The away side took the lead on 15 minutes with a nice free kick from Marc Hocher, but despite dominating for most of the game FC Emmen could not find an equaliser as Roda JC held on.

VVV Venlo 0-1 NAC Breda

NAC Breda took a step towards Eredivisie survival with a 1-0 win over VVV Venlo. The only goal of the game came in the 30th minute when Guyon Fernandez raced onto a through ball by Mats Seuntjes before rounding Niki Mäenpää and tapping into an empty net.

Melvin Platje missed several chances for VVV Venlo as they failed to find an equaliser, and NAC Breda will be confident of progress when the two meet again on Monday.
