After the completion of round 13 in the 2013/14 Eredivisie season, a further new name is at the top of the table.

gronVitesse took over at the top from AZ Alkmaar after recording a 3-1 home victory against FC Utrecht on Saturday evening at the Gelredome. The hosts went ahead through Chelsea loanee, Christian Atsu on the haf hour mark before Jan Wouters side responded through Steve de Ridder after an hour of play. With a draw looking most likely, two late goals in the last four minutes of normal time for Vitesse saw them head to the top as they bid to win their maiden Eredivisie title. AZ Alkmaar led in their crunch tie at the De Kuip Stadion against Feyenoord through Aron Johanssons 9th goal of the season, however Dick Advocaats sides were pegged backed by the hosts following goals by Lex Immers and te Vrede, both scoring in successive game. Aron Johansson scored his second goal of the game from the spot just five minutes after Feyenoord led to ensure a point was gained.

Ajax recorded their first away victory this season when inflicting a comfortable 3-0 defeat on bottom side, NEC Nijmegen following a brace by Siem de Jong and Nicolai Boilesens goal. PSV however were not so fortunate on their travels as Philip Cocu’s side, despite going one nil up through Jurgen Locadia just before the break, suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of NAC Breda following two late goals by Kees Kwakman. A result which has seen pressure mount on the manager as PSV have fell down to 8th, now 5 points off the top.

FC Groningen continued their strong form when defeating Heracles Almelo at the Polman Stadion 3-0. After an hour of play the game remained goalless before wonderkid, Richairo Zivkovic put the visitors ahead. A further two goals were added by Filip Kostic to give the win for the Green and White army which has seen them rise up into 4th and ahead of FC Twente. The former league leaders from Enschede, FC Twente started the days action on Sunday and on their travels were fortunate to gain a point at PEC Zwolle. Former Feyenoorder, Guyon Fernandez put the hosts one up minutes after the second half restart before FC Twente gained a point following the equaliser scored by Quincy Promes.

The round initally got underway on Friday evening when SC Heerenveen entertained RKC Waalwijk. Alfred Finnbogason regained his scoring form in emphatic style as he notched a hat-trick which was pivotal in the 5-2 victory over their visitors. As Alfred Finnbogason ended his goalscoring drought, so did SC Heerenveen who remain in 9th.

Roda JC have surged up the league following 8 pts gained in their last four games which included two victories and two draws, however they were dealt a hammer blow when Go Ahead Eagles inflicted a 4-1 defeat in their own back garden. Go Ahead Eagles have played with no fear throughout the season and despite many expecting the Deventer side to return straight to the second tier in Dutch Football, they are holding their own in 12th position. SC Cambuur, who were also promoted last season have found themselves in the bottom three for the first time. In a crunch tie with ADO Den Haag at the Kyocera Stadion they were dealt a 3-0 defeat, the victory for the hosts has seen them leapfrog SC Cambuur out of the bottom three.
