Twente hammered NAC Breda 5-2, while Vitesse eased back to the the top of the table after a 3-0 win against Go Ahead Eagles. RKC shocked Feyenoord, PSV failed to beat 10 man Heerenveen, and AZ Alkmaar drew 2-2 with Roda JC despite being down to 10 men. Ajax, Utrecht, and Cambuur also won, while Groningen drew with PEC Zwolle.
Here is our team of the week:
Goalkeeper: Diederik Boer (PEC Zwolle)
PEC Zwolle’s shot stopper was in unbeatable form to deny Groningen in a 0-0 draw, with the 33 year old making 10 saves as his side was under constant pressure.
Right Back: Mattias Johansson (AZ Alkmaar)
With AZ down to nine men after 20 minutes, Dick Advocaat’s side needed an attacking outlet if they were to get anything out of the game. Right back Johansson provided this, and scored the opening goal in the 2-2 draw, whilst also helping his defence out time and time again.
Left Back: Patrick van Aanholt (Vitesse)
Did well against Go Ahead Eagles most dangerous attacking threat, Jarchinio Antonia, whilst also bombing forward to help out the attack on several occasions. Took more shots than any of his teammates.
Centre Back: Kenny Otigba (Heerenveen)
With Heerenveen being down to ten men after only 15 minutes, they had to withstand heavy pressure from the free flowing PSV, with Otigba the star at the back. Otigba shackled Jurgen Locadia for most of the game, and was a rock as his side came away from Eindhoven with a 1-1 draw. The centre back won every aerial duel he went in for.
Centre Back: Joel Veltman (Ajax)
Played out of his skin for Netherlands against Colombia, and was once again faultless as Ajax swept Heracles aside in a 3-0 win. The defender is becoming a real star for Frank de Boer’s side.
Midfielder: Yoshiaki Takagi (Utrecht)
Takagai laid on two assists in Utrecht’s win over ADO Den Haag, whilst also clearing off the line as his side came under pressure after being reduced to ten men.
Midfielder: Evander Sno (RKC Waalwijk)
With RKC stunning Feyenoord 1-0 on Sunday, Evander Sno made a number of key tackles in the midfield as his side came under constant pressure. Has made a huge difference to the strugglers since joining the club earlier this month.
Midfielder: Marko Vejinovic (Vitesse)
The central midfielder was hugely impressive in Vitesse’s comfortable win over Go Ahead Eagles. Had 126 touches of the ball with a pass accuracy of 96% and took a number of shots on the opponents goal.
Forward: Quincy Promes (FC Twente)
Scored twice with two great long range efforts in Twente’s 5-2 win over NAC, and was a constant threat down the left wing with his pace and trickery.
Forward: Luc Castaignos (Twente)
Currently one of the most in form strikers in the Eredivisie, and notched another at the weekend with a fine finish. Also added an assist as he showed of his great linking ability.
Forward: Dusan Tadic (Twente)
Tadic completes an all Twente forward line after another excellent performance against NAC. Scored from the penalty spot, but impressed throughout with his passing range, and dribbling ability.
