twente bFC Twente vs Heracles

The first Eredivisie match of 2013 sees 3rd placed Twente host 13th placed Heracles. Both sides ended 2013 with draws and will be looking to start 2014 with a victory. I can’t look past Twente for this one, I think they should beat Heracles fairly comfortably.

Match result: FC Twente (-1) – 4/6

AZ Alkmaar vs NAC Breda

Saturday’s action begins with AZ hosting NAC. The home side ended 2013 on a poor run of form including a 5-1 home defeat to Heerenveen. They have slipped down to 8th in the table while NAC are just 2 points behind in 12th. This should be an entertaining match and I think there will be a fair number of goals in this one.

Match goals: Over 2.5 – 4/7

PEC Zwolle vs Vitesse

Vitesse surrendered top spot late in 2013 after a draw at NAC allowed Ajax to overtake them. However Peter Bosz’s team are still on a nine-game unbeaten run in the Eredivisie. Zwolle are gradually slipping down the table and now lie in 11th. I fully expect Vitesse’s unbeaten ntinue with a win in this match.

Match result: Vitesse – 5/6

RKC Waalwijk vs FC Groningen

Groningen enjoyed a solid end to 2013 with a 5-2 win against NEC which put them in 7th in the table. Waalwijk are in the thick of it down at the bottom in 14th, just 3 points off the bottom of the table. This should be an entertaining match and I think RKC could sneak a draw against Groningen.

Match result: Draw – 5/2

Heerenveen vs Roda JC

Saturday’s action concludes with the meeting of two of the league’s most unpredictable teams. Some good results late in 2013 propelled Heerenveen up to 5th in the table while Roda have been dragged in to the relegation battle as they are in 15th. This should be an entertaining match and I expect plenty of goals from these teams.

Match goals: Over 3.5 – 10/11

NEC vs ADO Den Haag

Sunday’s action kicks off with a huge relegation six-pointer as bottom side NEC host third from bottom Den Haag. Both teams ended 2013 with losses and will be looking to pick up a much needed 3 points in this game. It’s a tough game to call but I think NEC could snatch this one.

Match result: NEC – 10/11

FC Utrecht vs Feyenoord

4th placed Feyenoord travel to face 9th placed Utrecht in what could be a very entertaining match. Both teams had been in very good form before the winter break. Utrecht have been very strong at home recently and I think they could pick up a result in this game.

Match result: Utrecht or Draw – 10/11

Cambuur vs Go Ahead Eagles

This is another relatively big game down at the bottom as a win for Cambuur could really drag Go Ahead in to the battle. The visitors are currently in 10th, six points in front of the playoff places. Cambuur are in trouble in second bottom and a defeat in this game and a NEC win would see them drop to last place. This is a tough one to call but I think the visitors should pick up a win.

Match result: Go Ahead Eagles – 11/4

Ajax vs PSV

The best match of the weekend has certainly been saved for last as league leaders Ajax host PSV. Ajax are in fantastic form and deservedly top the table while PSV look like they are recovering from the slump they hit earlier this season. This should be a cracking match and I think Ajax will just edge it.

Match result: Ajax – 8/13
