zoet cRound 20 saw Ajax move two points clear at the top of the Eredivisie after a 1-0 lead over Go Ahead coupled with Vitesse’s 1-1 draw with NEC. Cambuur have the bragging rights of Friesland after a 3-1 victory over Heerenveen. There were victories for ADO Den Haag, Heracles, Roda JC, PEC Zwolle, and PSV.

Our team of the week is:

GK: Jeroen Zoet (PSV)

Man of the match in PSV’s 1-0 win over AZ after a string of fine saves gave the Eindhoven club a crucial three points. The goalkeeper denied Beerens, Johannsson, and Gudmundsson in a commanding performance.

RB: Santiago Arias (PSV)

The right back was more effective on the wing than his team mate Bryan Ruiz, and came close to scoring when played through one on one with the goalkeeper. Whilst AZ put PSV under pressure, Arias made a crucial block on the line.

LB: Jetro Willems (PSV)

Willems scored the only goal in PSV’s 1-0 win over AZ on Saturday night with a great strike. The left back was always looking to get forward to help Memphis Depay on the wing, while keeping Johan Gudmundsson quiet throughout the game.

CB: Dan Mori (Vitesse)

Mori was in the news recently after being denied access to the UAE on Vitesse’s winter break, but the defender made better headlines with a goal against NEC on Sunday.

CB: Tom Beugelsdijk (ADO Den Haag)

The centre back was everywhere in ADO’s excellent win over Feyenoord, showing great determination to open the scoring, whilst making a number of challenges at the back.

MF: Danny Holla (ADO Den Haag)

Holla put in a terrific captain’s performance to help ADO beat Feyenoord on Sunday. The midfielder kept Feyenoord at bay with a number of crucial tackles, and finished the game with an assist.

MF: Mustafa Saymak (PEC Zwolle)

PEC Zwolle won their first Eredivisie game since October on Saturday thanks to Saymak’s goal which gave them a 2-1 win over NAC Breda. Saymak’s goal was a terrific long range effort which flew into the top corner, and rounded off an impressive performance by the youngster.

MF: Ryan Koolwijk (NEC)

Vitesse were heavy favourites to beat NEC on Sunday in the Gelderland derby, but the Eredivisie’s bottom side came away with a 1-1 draw. This was partly down to Koolwijk’s dominance over Vitesse’s talented midfield. The likes of Lucas Piazon, and Davy Propper were kept quiet throughout by the tough tackling midfielder.

FW: Elvis Manu (Cambuur)

Manu’s pace was too much to handle for Heerenveen, and the on loan winger scored a nice goal to give Cambuur the lead in their 3-1 derby win. Manu’s signing may be the catalyst for Cambuur to beat relegation.

FW: Guus Hupperts (Roda JC)

Hupperts was once again the hero for Roda, as his goal gave them a 1-0 win over Utrecht on Saturday. AZ Alkmaar had a bid rejected for the winger recently, and Roda face a battle to keep hold of their young talent

FW: Bartholomew Ogbenche (Cambuur)

The Nigerian forward caused Heerenveen a number of problems, scoring a well taken goal to make it 3-0, whilst also finishing with an assist.
