We select out team of the week from round 30 of the Eredivisie which saw big wins for Ajax and Feyenoord at the top.

immerAjax are now eight points clear after a 3-0 victory over FC Twente, who lost ground in the battle for 2nd place to Feyenoord who hammered Go Ahead Eagles 5-0. Groningen produced the shock of the round beating PSV Eindhoven 3-2, while Vitesse and Heerenveen played out a 2-2 draw. At the bottom Roda JC were defeated by RKC, and NEC lost 3-2 to Heracles, while ADO drew with Zwolle, Cambuur held AZ, and NAC drew with Utrecht.

Our team of the week is:

Goalkeeper: Arjan van Dijk (RKC)

Roda JC threw everything at RKC on Sunday, but the Eredivisie’s bottom side could not find a way past Van Dijk. He may have had his shaky moments but Van Dijk produced a wonderful save to deny Berry Powel.

Right Back: Ricardo van Rhijn (Ajax)

Van Rhijn was hugely impressive against Twente on Sunday, bursting forward in the second half to set up Bojan’s third goal. The right back was also largely untroubled by Twente’s wing duo of Quincy Promes and Youness Mokhtar.

Left Back: Jason Davidson (Heracles)

Davidson opened the scoring for Heracles in their win over NEC, showing great determination to bomb forward, and send an excellent strike into the net from just inside the box. Under a lot of pressure from NEC, Davidson was also solid defensively throughout.

Centre Back: Ramon Leeuwin (Cambuur)

Cambuur held AZ Almaar to a 0-0 draw on Sunday with Leeuwin putting in an excellent display at the back to prevent Dick Advocaat’s side from scoring. The centre back hardly gave AZ striker Denni Avdic a sniff of goal.

Centre Back: Stefano Denswil (Ajax)

The young centre back returned to the Ajax starting eleven in place of Niklas Moisander, and netted the opening goal with an excellent header. Denswil was also excellent at the back in controlling Twente’s lively front three.

Midfielder: Lex Immers (Feyenoord)

Lex Immers put in a performance in Feyenoord’s 5-0 win over Go Ahead which got the Dutch media asking whether he should be playing for Netherlands national team. The midfielder netted the opening goal with a nice striker, and also ended the game with an assist. A brilliant all round performance by Immers.

Midfielder: Daley Sinkgraven (Heerenveen)

The youngster made his first start in the 2-2 draw with Vitesse, and hardly put a foot wrong in an excellent performance. Sinkgraven set up Bilal Basacikoglu to net Heerenveen’s second goal with an excellent cross, and showed some neat touches in the centre.

Midfielder: Tjarron Chery (Groningen)

Chery netted a fortunate winner in the match over PSV when his free kick evaded everyone and found the bottom corner. However the midfielder was very impressive throughout the game, and controlled the centre of the pitch, ending the game with an 83% pass accuracy.

Attacker: Bojan (Ajax)

He has been often criticised since joining Ajax in the summer, but Bojan was excellent against Twente on Sunday. The forward was full of running and netted a stunning third goal to seal the win.

Attacker: Filip Kostic (Groningen)

Kostic terrorised PSV Eindhoven’s defence on Saturday night in the shock 3-2 win, ending the game with a goal and an assist in a terrific performance. The winger was a constant threat throughout the game with his direct running, and tested goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet with a number of shots.

Attacker: Jean Paul Boetius (Feyenoord)

After a quiet first half, Boetius exploded into action in the second period, hitting the post, before scoring from close range to make it 4-0. Always full of running and tricks, Boetius has to be a serious candidate to participate in this summer’s World Cup.
