Ajax saw off ADO Den Haag 3-2 on Sunday, but their title party was delayed by Feyenoord, who saw off PSV 2-0 in Eindhoven. Twente kept up their hopes of finishing 2nd with a 3-0 win over Roda JC, while Vitesse lost a seven goal thriller in Cambuur. There were wins for Groningen, Heerenveen, and Utrecht, while AZ v NEC, and RKC v PEC Zwolle both finished 1-1.
Our team of the week is:
Goalkeeper: Filip Kurto (Roda JC)
Roda JC may have been beaten 3-0 by Twente, but if it was not for Kurto in goal, it could have been 5/6-0 with the keeper having to make save after save. Roda may bee doomed to relegation, but Kurto is one man in the side willing to put up a fight.
Defender: Terence Kongolo (Feyenoord)
In front of a watching Louis van Gaal, Kongolo gave himself a chance of being a surprise call up for the World Cup with an impressive display at left back. The versatile defender keeps putting in excellent performances week in week out.
Defender: Daryl Janmaat (Feyenoord)
Did really well against PSV’s biggest attacking threat Memphis Depay, whilst also looking to get forward at every opportunity. Scored the 2nd goal with a stunning volley.
Defender: Kevin Conboy (NEC)
Conboy rescued his side a late point against AZ, which stopped their place in the bottom three from being confirmed. The defender was also resolute throughout against the dominant Alkmaar side.
Defender: Joost Van Aken (Heerenveen)
He was in our team of the week in the last round after making his debut, and in his second appearance, Van Aken was again brilliant for Heerenveen in their 2-0 win over Go Ahead Eagles. The defender opened the scoring with a towering header, whilst also helping his side keep a clean sheet.
Midfielder: Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord)
Clasie put in a dominant midfield display to ensure Feyenoord’s win over PSV on Sunday. The combatant midfielder made more successful tackles than anyone else (6), and ended the game with 93% pass accuracy. Does the job on the pitch which doesn’t always get noticed, but Clasie was fantastic.
Midfielder: Dusan Tadic (Twente)
Another midfield masterclass from the Serbian inspired Twente to victory over Roda JC. Touched the ball more than any other player on the pitch and ended the game with 80% pass accuracy.
Midfielder: Thulani Serero (Ajax)
Serero put in one of his best performances of the season in Ajax’s 3-2 win over ADO Den Haag, finishing the game with a goal and assist in an accomplished performance. The midfielder is now showing the form which could see him emulate Christian Eriksen’s importance to the side.
Midfielder: Martijn Barto (Cambuur)
Barto was the hero for Cambuur in the thrilling 4-3 win over Vitesse on Saturday which confirmed his side’s safety in their first season back in the Eredivisie. The midfielder finished the game with two goals.
Attacker: Torgeir Borven (Twente)
Finished the 3-0 win over Roda JC with two goals, but could easily have added more as Borven was a constant threat throughout the game.
Attacker: Filip Kostic (Groningen)
With Groningen seemingly heading for a 1-1 draw with NAC, Kostic once again produced a moment of magic at the Euroborg, as the winger skipped past a number of challenges before rifling into the bottom corner to win the game. A fantastic talent.
