The Eredivisie regular season is now over. We round up all nine matches from the final matchday.

De Graafschap 1-4 Ajax

Ajax comfortably sealed the Eredivisie title with a 4-1 win at De Graafschap.

Lasse Schone broke the deadlock with an excellent free-kick in the 37th minute before Youssef El Jebli equalised. The hosts couldn’t celebrate being level for long as Nicolas Tagliafico restored Ajax’s lead before the break.

A fine solo run from Frenkie de Jong, playing his final game for Ajax, ended with a penalty being awarded. Dusan Tadic netted to make it 3-1 before the Serbian scored his 28th goal of the campaign with a fine finish. That goal puts him level with Luuk de Jong and they will share the golden boot.

At full-time the celebrations began as it was confirmed that Ajax had sealed the championship. De Graafschap finish 17th and need to prepare for the relegation playoffs.

PSV 3-1 Heracles Almelo

PSV ended the season with a 3-1 victory over Heracles.

The hosts needed a miracle to catch Ajax at the top of the table and retain their title and in the first minute any hopes were shattered. Former PSV striker Joey Konings fired Heracles in front.

PSV pushed for an equaliser which eventually came in the 32nd minute as Wout Droste put Angelino’s cross into his own net.

Early in the second half, PSV took the lead through Nick Viergever before Donyell Malen sealed the victory late on with his 10th league goal.

The home crowd said their goodbyes to departing defender Daniel Schwaab who got a public substitution before the end. However, it is a trophyless campaign for PSV and they will need to rebuild in the summer to challenge Ajax next year. Heracles must prepare for the European playoff against Utrecht.

Fortuna Sittard 1-4 Feyenoord

Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s reign as Feyenoord boss ended with a comfortable 4-1 win at Fortuna Sittard.

After six minutes, Orkun Kokcu fired Feyenoord into the lead but Jorrit Smeets equalised for the hosts on the stroke of half-time.

Kai Heerings saw red for the hosts and with an extra-man, Feyenoord restored their lead quickly through Nicolai Jorgensen.

The Danish striker made it 3-1 in the 79th minute before Steven Berghuis wrapped up the win late on.

Feyenoord finish third and will now look to the future with new boss Jaap Stam. Fortuna Sittard finished 15th.

Utrecht 3-1 Heerenveen

Utrecht sealed sixth place in the Eredivisie after coming from behind to beat Heerenveen 3-1.

Ben Rienstra gave the visitors the lead on the half-hour mark but Utrecht captian Willem Janssen equalised before the break.

Three minutes into the second half, Sander van de Streek made it 2-1 before Cyriel Dessers sealed the victory late on.

Utrecht will now face Heracles Almelo in the European playoffs, while Heerenveen have finished 11th.

Emmen 1-0 Groningen

Groningen have sealed a European playoff spot despite losing 1-0 to Emmen.

Michael Chacon scored the only goal of the game for the hosts, who finish 14th in their first ever Eredivisie campiagn.

Groningen finish ahead of ADO Den Haag on goal difference and will now meet Vitesse in the playoffs.

VVV Venlo 1-3 Vitesse Arnhem

Vitesse warmed up for the European playoffs with a comfortable win at VVV.

Vyacheslav Karavayev opened the scoring for the visitors before Martin Odegaard made it 2-0 in the 39th minute with a lovely finish.

Peter van Ooijen pulled one back for the hosts but Matus Bero killed off any chance of a comeback in the 83rd minute.

Vitesse will meet Groningen in the playoffs for a Europa League spot while VVV finish 12th.

Excelsior 4-2 AZ Alkmaar

Excelsior warmed up for the relegation playoffs with a confidence boosting win over AZ Alkmaar.

Jeffrey Fortes fired Excelsior into the lead in the 22nd minute but Teun Koopmeiners made it 1-1 at the break.

Six minutes into the second half, Ricardo van Rhijn netted an own goal to make it 2-1 for the hosts and the AZ defence then fell apart. A Luigi Bruins penalty made it 3-1 on the hour-mark before Elias mar Omarsson made it 4-1.

Bjorn Johnsen pulled one back for the visitors, who handed the talented Kenzo Goudmijn his debut, but it was just a consolation.

AZ finish fourth in what is John van den Brom’s final campaign in charge while Excelsior are 16th.

ADO Den Haag 6-2 Willem II

ADO Den Haag downed Willem II in a seven goal thriller but both sides miss out on a European playoff spot.

Willem II had the better chance of taking eighth spot and they took the lead in the 15th minute through Damil Dankerlui. However, Nasser El Khayati equalised for the hosts in the 31st minute.

Vangelis Pavlidis made it 2-1 for Willem II three minutes into the second half but from that point it all fell apart.

Wilfried Kanon equalised for ADO Den Haag before Dankerlui saw red and conceded a penalty, which El Khayati scored.

Tomas Necid’s double and a Lex Immers strike made it 6-2 for the hosts before the end but that wasn’t enough to catch up with Groningen in eighth because of their superior goal difference.

ADO finish 9th and Willem II tenth.

NAC Breda 0-0 PEC Zwolle

Already relegated NAC Breda ended the season with a drab 0-0 draw against PEC Zwolle.

Neither side could find a goal in a poor end to the campaign.

NAC finish bottom while PEC Zwolle, who say goodbye to coach Jaap Stam, end the season in 13th.
