eghan abIt was a terrific week in the Eredivisie, with AZ Alkmaar shocking PSV Eindhoven 2-1, but manager Gertjan Verbeek was sacked, while Ajax scored six, and Twente stormed to the top of the table.

Here is our team of the week, in 4-3-3 formation:

Goalkeeper- Jelle ten Rouwelaar (NAC Breda)

PEC Zwolle threw everything at NAC Breda to try and retake the top spot in the league table, but could find no way past Jelle Ten Rouwelaar, who was in good form.

Right back- Kelvin Leerdam (Vitesse)

Got forward to head in a corner, and put his side 1-0 up in the 3-2 win over NEC Nijmegen, and was also very assured at the back. Leerdam has been in great form since joining Vitesse in the summer.

Left back- Kenny van der Weg (NAC Breda)

The star of NAC’s defence as they held PEC Zwolle to a 0-0 draw, making a number of crucial tackles, and interceptions as his side came under pressure.

Centre back- Nick Viergever (AZ Alkmaar)

The Alkmaar side’s captain led by example in defence, as AZ pulled of a 2-1 victory which condemned PSV to their first defeat of the season, with Viergever opening the scoring.

Centre back- Jeffrey Gouweleeuw (AZ Alkmaar)

Just like his fellow centre back Viergever, Gouweleeuw hardly put a foot wrong in the win over PSV. An assured performance from the young defender.

Midfielder- Lerin Duarte (Ajax)

The midfielder put in a great performance against Go Ahead Eagles, scoring his first goal since joining from Heracles as his side ran rampant in the second half winning 6-0.

Midfielder- Lucas Piazon (Vitesse)

Again looked like the classiest player on the pitch in Vitesse’s 3-2 win over NEC, and scored a great goal in the final minute to hand all three points to his side. Looks like an excellent signing for the Arnhem side.

Midfielder- Shadrach Eghan (Twente)

Twente’s star man in their 5-0 win over Groningen, which saw them move top of the table, with the young midfielder netting a double, and always looking threatening for the opposition.

Forward- Lesley de Sa (Ajax)

Player of the match in Ajax’s 6-0 win over Go Ahead Eagles, with the 20 year old making only his second Eredivisie appearance. The winger scored his first league goal for the club, and looked good going forward.

Forward- Mark Uth (Heracles)

The 22 year old forward on loan from Heerenveen scored a great hat-trick in Heracles’s 4-1 win over RKC Waalwijk, with the young German scoring three goals from only five shots.

Forward- Graziano Pelle (Feyenoord)

Italian striker netted three great goals in Feyenoord’s 4-2 win over ADO Den Haag, taking the Italian to nine goals in eight Eredivisie matches. Pelle had gone two weeks in the league without a goal, but stormed back on Sunday.
