higdon motmThis weekend, NEC Nijmegen finally won a game, while Ajax, PSV, Twente, Feyenoord, and Vitesse all dropped points in the title race.

Here is our team of the week:

Goalkeeper- Marco Bizot (Groningen)

For the second week running, Marco Bizot was in terrific form, and despite conceding twice against Vitesse, the goalkeeper pulled off a number of saves in the 2-2 draw. If it was not for Bizot, Vitesse would have had a runaway win.

Right Back- Woute Droste (Cambuur)

The full back put in a very impressive performance in his side’s 3-1 win over Utrecht on Saturday, making crucial interceptions, and linking well with winger Jody Lukoki in attack.

Left Back- Nick Viergever (AZ Alkmaar)

Scored AZ’s second goal in their win over PEC Zwolle, but also defended brilliantly against their opponents tricky attackers. Both Leroy Labylle, and Giovanni Hiwat stood no chance against the impressive left back.

Centre Back- Martijn van der Laan (Cambuur)

Cambuur’s captain was a rock in the centre of defence, as they beat Utrecht 3-1, with Van der Laan ending the game with an impressive 91% passing accuracy. He made great tackles, and set up attacks with a great range of passes.

Centre Back- Tom Beugelsdijk (ADO Den Haag)

League leaders Twente went into the game against struggling ADO Den Haag full of confidence, but they fell to a 3-2 defeat. Beugelsdijk was excellent at the back, making numerous tackles, including one last ditch challenge which saved an almost certain goal.

Midfielder-  Mark jan Fledderus (Roda JC)

The captain of Roda JC, was excellent in their 2-1 victory over PSV Eindhoven, calmly finishing in front of goal to equalise, before setting up Krisztian Nemeth to score the winner.

Midfielder- Davy Propper (Vitesse)

Often overshadowed in Vitesse’s midfield by Lucas Piazon, Davy Propper was excellent for Vitesse on Sunday in their 2-2 draw with Groningen. His performance was capped with an excellent goal which put his side 2-0 up.

Midfielder- Jeffrey Sarpong (NAC Breda)

The catalyst behind NAC Breda’s 5-0 victory over Go Ahead Eagles, as he ended the game with an assist and goal. His goals was a great finish into the bottom corner, before he set up Stipe Perica with a terrific through ball.

Forward- Jody Lukoki (Cambuur)

Cambuur came from behind to shock Utrecht 3-1 on Saturday, with on loan winger Jody Lukoki a constant threat to the visitors defence. He ended the game with only one assist, but put in a great performance on the right wing.

Forward- Rydell Poepon (NAC Breda)

Poepon was on fire as NAC Breda swept Go Ahead Eagles aside 5-0, and ended the game with two goals, including a great strike from outside the box.

Forward- Michael Higdon (NEC Nijmegen)

NEC Nijmgen won their first Eredivisie game in eight months, as they saw off Heerenveen 2-1 on Friday, with Higdon the hero with two goals. The Englishmen netted a double to lift his side off the bottom of the table, and had his name chanted around the stadium.
