Which eleven players plus seven substitutes made it into our Eredivisie team of the season? Take a look below, and if you disagree use the comments box to add your suggestions.

tadic ddOur team of the season is in a 4-3-3 formation, and is as follows:

Goalkeeper: Jasper Cillessen (Ajax)

Its been the almost perfect season for Cillessen, who replaced previous number one Kenneth Vermeer at the start of the season. The goalkeeper put in a number of top performances which led to Ajax winning the title, and the 25-year-old is certain to be part of Netherlands World Cup squad, maybe even as first choice.

Right Back: Santiago Arias (PSV)

The Colombian international endured a tough start to his career at the Philips Stadion, and was caught out by the pace of the Eredivisie a number of times in the early months of the season. However Arias has developed into an excellent attacking right back, who’s performances towards the end of the season have reportedly attracted the interest of Manchester United and Valencia.

Left Back: Daley Blind (Ajax)

At home in midfield or at left back, Blind was once again a key player in helping Ajax secure there fourth straight Eredivisie title. Possibly playing his last season at Ajax, Blind was the perfect anchor in midfield, shielding his defenders, who liked to move forward with the ball, but also solid when used at left back. Blind seems to be improving every season, but where will the 24-year-old be playing next season?

Centre Back: Joel Veltman (Ajax)

Due to injuries, the 22-year-old has had to wait until this season to break into the Ajax first team, but what a first campaign the defender has had. Veltman’s style is almost identical to that of Jan Verthongen, when he was the star defender at the Amsterdam Arena. Solid at the back, but also loves to venture forward into midfield with the ball, and set up attacks.

Ajax conceded the least amount of goals in the Eredivisie with Veltman in defence, while the defender finished the season with a hugely impressive 89% pass accuracy.

Centre Back: Guram Kashia (Vitesse)

Vitesse had a great start to the season, and led the Eredivisie going into the new year break with centre back Kashia a rock at the back. The Georgian international ends the season with an average of 3 successful tackles per game, and six interceptions per match.

The club  collapsed in the last few months of the season, finishing outside the automatic European places, but Kashia can still hold his head high as one of the best defenders in the division.

Midfielder: Lasse Schone (Ajax)

Ajax’s undoubted star of the season, Schone provided goals at the most crucial times during the campaign, including a 30-yard free kick that sealed the title on the penultimate day of the season.

Played through the middle or in a unfamiliar right wing position Schone netted nine goals in the Eredivisie, and contributed eight assists. Was crucial to the side for creativity after Christian Eriksen left.

Midfielder: Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord)

Clasie was the bite and inspiration from the midfield which saw Feyenoord claim 2nd in the table, and earn a spot in next season’s Champions League. The midfielder’s brilliant season was capped when he was named Feyenoord captain, and the 22-year-old will be part of Netherlands World Cup squad this summer.

Clasie averaged 3 successful tackles a game, while ending the season with seven assists, and a 84.5% pass accuracy.

Midfielder: Dusan Tadic (Twente)

When FC Twente win, Dusan Tadic usually had something to do with it as the Serbian tore apart the Eredivisie from start to finish. Tadic scored 16 goals, claimed 14 assists, and was named man of the match in 10 out of 34 Twente matches.

Whether on the wing or through the middle, there is few players that are as much a joy to watch than Tadic in the Eredivisie on form, After this season, Twente face a huge task of trying to stop clubs from poaching their star man.

Attacker: Memphis Depay (PSV)

At the start of the season, PSV lost left winger Dries Mertens to Napoli, and although his loss has been felt at times, Depay has proved to be a hugely impressive replacement.

Nearly all PSV’s play in the attacking third comes through Depay on the left hand side, with the winger full of tricks and skill, which at times can prove frustrating, but can also be magic.

Depay averaged five shots a game, but only netted 12 goals. This is the area the 20-year-old winger needs to improve in order to progress to the highest level. However his form this season should see him appear at the World Cup.

Attacker: Alfred Finnbogason (Heerenveen)

Finnbogason was lethal in his second season in the Eredivisie, netting 29 goals in 31 appearances to become not only the Eredivisie’s top scorer for the season, but also Heerenveen’s all time top scorer in the division.

The Icelandic international isn’t just all about goals though as he also contributed nine assists. Like Wilfried Bony last season, Finnbogason is likely to move on in the summer, but he will always be a hero at the Abe Lenstra after this season.

Attacker: Graziano Pelle (Feyenoord)

Like Finnbogason, when Graziano Pelle appeared for Feyenoord, the Italian almost guaranteed goals. The striker finished the season with 23 goals, but could have had more if disciplinary problems hadn’t seen him banned for a number of games.

Pelle is capable of scoring any kind of goal, whether it be a 30-yard strike, a tap in or a leaping header, and this makes the Italian a nightmare for any defender. His strength and hold up play was also crucial for Ronald Koeman’s side.

With Feyenoord qualifying for the Champions League, hopefully the club can convince Pelle to stay, as losing the striker would be a blow to the whole division.

Substitutes: Marco Bizot (Groningen), Stefan De Vrij (Feyenoord), Jetro Willems (PSV), Kamohelo Mokotjo (PEC Zwolle), Jean Paul Boetius (Feyenoord), Quincy Promes (Twente), Johannsson (AZ)
