The midweek round of Eredivisie games are done with the title race getting closer and closer. Below is our team of the week for Round 16.

Remko Pasveer (Vitesse Arnhem)

Vitesse Arnhem kept their title challenge on course with a 1-0 win over Utrecht on Tuesday, Pasveer had a good game in goal for the hosts and made five saves as he kept a clean sheet.

Owen Wijndal (AZ Alkmaar)

AZ Alkmaar blew PSV Eindhoven away on Wednesday and fully deserved their 3-1 victory. Owen Wijndal had a very impressive game on the left and he frustrated PSV throughout. The left-back came away from the game with a number of bruises after being kicked constantly.

Danilho Doekhi (Vitesse Arnhem)

Not only did Doekhi have a great game at the back for Vitesse Arnhem but he also scored the winning goal. Vitesse have an excellent defence this season and Doekhi is one of the stars.

Noussair Mazraoui (Ajax)

Ajax overcame Twente 3-1 on Thursday to keep themselves clear at the top of the table. Huntelaar and Haller took most of the headlines but Mazraoui had a great game on the right. He completed 4 dribbles, 4 tackles, made 3 interceptions, and created one chance in an impressive display.

Teun Koopmeiners (AZ Alkmaar)

We are running out of words to describe just how good Koopmeiners is and he was once again the star for AZ as they stunned PSV 3-1. He scored a penalty but his second goal, a flick over Mvogo with his heel is a contender for goal of the season. A sensational player who impressed in front of the watching Frank de Boer.

Mo El Hankouri (Groningen)

One of the most underrated players in the Eredivisie this season, El Hankouri came off the bench to score twice in Groningen’s 3-2 win over Willem II.

Luis Sinisterra (Feyenoord)

Stepped up when Feyenoord needed him on Wednesday with the winning goal against PEC Zwolle. The Colombian winger has been missed by the Rotterdam side and he lit up the pitch when he appeared in the second half.

Rai Vloet (Heracles)

Heracles hammered Emmen 4-0 on Tuesday with Vloet putting in an excellent display. He ended the game with one assist and one goal to his name.

Georgios Giakoumakis (VVV-Venlo)

What a signing the Greek forward has been for VVV, who defeated ADO Den Haag 4-1 thanks to Giakoumakis who scored all four goals. The Eredivisie top scorer is a real goalscorer and could be heading for a big club in the summer.

Sebastien Haller (Ajax)

Made a big impression on his first start for Ajax, netting the opening goal before he got an assist late in the game. A threat throughout with his height.

Sinan Bakis (Heracles)

Didn’t have a goal to his name in the league this season until Tuesday when he netted a hat-trick in the 4-0 win over Emmen. He will be hoping that it is the start of some good form.
