Eriksen took to the pitch today to say goodbye, whilst also receiving some words of praise from coach Frank de Boer before sitting in the crowd alongside fellow Tottenham, and ex-Ajax star Jan Verthongen, to watch his old side win 3-0.
De Boer said of the 22-year-old, “We knew right away we’ve got one, but you’ve only got better and better. Now you play in the Premier League and if you score, we are all so proud. ”
Eriksen took to the mic to add, whilst the crowd serenaded the Dane, “Thanks for all the great years. I want to thank everyone for letting me play here.”
The midfielder joined Ajax from OB in 2008, and went on to make 162 appearances for the club, scoring 32 times, and winning three Eredivisie titles. Last summer Eriksen moved to Tottenham for a fee believed to be around €13.5 million.
