NEC Nijmegen manger Ernest Faber spoke to the NOS after the home defeat to AZ Alkmaar and thought his side were too fearful in their approach.

NEC found themselves 2-0 down in the opening fifteen minutes before eventually going down 3-0 on Saturday evening.
Faber told NOS, “It appears that we had an off day and I thought that we were too fearful in are approach and in ball possession.”
“Naturally we were disappointed to concede a goal so quickly in the game after 34 seconds and we have been on a good run and I must say that AZ were better than us on all fronts tonight “.
NEC have been the surprise package of the season but it appeared tonight that they could not string two passes together. ” Yes we saw that from the bench and it’s unexplainable we have our pattern of play and we could not bring it tonight.”
Monday is transfer deadline day and you could suggest that might sneakily play a part in the minds of Christian Santos & Anthony Limbombe in terms of maybe leaving NEC. Faber disagreed with such an observation ” I find that to be nonsense if that was the case we would have noticed that earlier. We can’t complain given our form the last few weeks and today is a good lesson for the future.”
Rumors persist about Limbombe and Santos leaving Nijmegen before Monday and Faber is cannot give any guarantees that they will stay. He added, “I do not know I also have to wait and see I have no influence on how deadline day will go. In the football world things happen at the last minute we just have to pick ourselves up and dust ourselves down and get ready for the next game.”
