Feyenoord’s Europa League campaign is over after their 1-0 loss to Wolfsberger AC in Austria.

Feyenoord needed to win in Austria to seal their place in the next round and Dick Advocaat was able to name Bryan Linssen in his starting line-up. Luis Sinisterra and Leroy Fer returned for Feyenoord on the bench.

Wolfsberger AC began the game on top but Nick Marsman was only forced into one decent save. Eventually, Feyenoord created a chance after 20 minutes, but Jens Toornstra was denied by an excellent save.

After 30 minutes, the hosts took the lead with Dejan Joveljic left completely free to nod in at the back post.

Feyenoord needed two goals in the second half, but they failed to create any chances despite having a lot of possession around the Wolfsberger box. With twenty minutes to go, Luis Sinisterra made his long-awaited comeback.

However, the Colombian could not inspire his side, with Naoufal Bannis and João Teixeira also unable to change the game. Shots from Steven Berghuis and Teixeira weren’t close enough, while Sinisterra was also denied.

Feyenoord crash out in the group stages and for the fourth time in five games, failed to score a goal.
