Feyenoord have one foot in the Europa League group stages after a simple 3-0 victory over Hapoel Beer Sheva in De Kuip.

Jaap Stam decided to name Edgar Ie in the starting line-up for the first time alongside Eric Botteghin in the centre of defence. Orkun Kokcu also came into the midfield in place of Liam Kelly, while Leroy Fer also started.

Feyenoord began brightly and they penned Hapoel Beer Sheva back from the start. However, the first big chance came in the 27th minute when Luciano Narsingh broke in on goal but he was denied by Ernestas Setkus and then his header was cleared off the line.

Nigel Hasselbaink caused some danger on the break but Feyenoord created another big chance through Rick Karsdorp, who struck the ball straight at Setkus from a good position. Leroy Fer then hit the post with a placed shot from the edge of the area.

Finally in the 33rd minute it was 1-0 for Feyenoord with Sam Larsson tapping into the net after a Steven Berghuis shot was tipped onto the inside of the post.

Ten minutes into the second half it was 2-0 when a corner landed at the feet of Fer, who made no mistake with his finish from close range.

Hapoel Beer Sheva then came into the game but Feyenoord defended well and Kenneth Vermeer made a good save to maintain a clean sheet.

In the 78th minute, Fer then settled the game with a fine finish from another corner to make it 3-0. Only a fine save then denied Steven Berghuis from adding a fourth before the end.

Feyenoord head to Israel next week with a big lead and can already smell the Europa League group stages.
