Cody Gakpo starred as PSV Eindhoven hammered Zurich 5-1 in Switzerland.

Following the 3-0 loss to Cambuur, Ruud van Nistelrooy brought Yorbe Vertessen into the starting eleven up front. The Belgian scored twice in the first 15 minutes, firstly finishing off a long ball from Armando Obispo, before he raced through to fire past goalkeeper Yanick Brecher.

Gakpo then got his first of the evening in the 21st minutes as he jinked past a challenge before hammering the ball into the net from just outside the box. Gakpo then set up Xavi Simons to make it 4-0 before the break.

Gakpo made it 5-0 ten minutes into the second half with a fierce strike which led to Van Nistelrooy resting his star striker, along with Simons and Vertessen.

Anwar El Ghazi hit the crossbar but the next and final goal was to be scored by the hosts as former NEC attacker Jonathan Okita headed in a consolation.

PSV are now on four points in the group and they will host Zurich in Eindhoven next week.
