Feyenoord host Rangers in a must win Europa League clash on Thursday. Kick-off in De Kuip is at 5.55pm.

After their 1-1 draw with Young Boys in the last round of matches, Feyenoord face an uphill struggle to seal a place in the knockout rounds.

Currently sitting third and three points behind Young Boys and Rangers, Feyenoord cannot afford to lose in their final two group games.

On Thursday, Rangers visit De Kuip in what is a must win game for Dick Advocaat, who will be coming up against his former side. Earlier this season, Rangers easily beat Feyenoord 1-0 at Ibrox, in a game that should have been far more comfortable for Steven Gerrard’s side.

Speaking at his press conference, Advocaat praised the Scottish side, “I have seen the match against Feyenoord and a few others and they have a very good selection. Scottish football is underestimated in the Netherlands. Celtic and Rangers are European top clubs and they are close to the level they want to achieve. They have good players, all international players, it will be difficult for us. “

Advocaat also sees Rangers as the favourites, “But every team can provide surprises, including Feyenoord. Everything can happen in De Kuip, you saw that against FC Porto. You have to win to stay with it. “

Feyenoord are still unbeaten in the four games under Advocaat, but they remain 10th in the Eredivisie after a 1-1 draw at Groningen on Sunday.

Rangers are in terrific form at the moment and sit joint top of the SPL with Celtic. At the weekend, they easily dispatched Hamilton 3-1 at the weekend and they know a win on Thursday would put them within touching distance of the knockout stages.

Team News

Feyenoord will be without first choice full-back’s Rick Karsdorp and Ridgeciano Haps for the clash, while Nicolai Jorgensen is a major doubt.

Jordan Jones is out injured but other than that, Gerrard has a fully fit squad to choose from at the moment.

Possible Rangers line-up: McGregor, Tavernier, Barisic, Goldson, Helander, Kamara, Jack, Davis, Kent, Arfield, Marelos

Can Feyenoord keep their Europa League hopes alive?

This is simply a must-win game for Feyenoord on Thursday if they are to have any chance of progressing in the Europa League.

Advocaat has praised Rangers ahead of the clash and even stated the Scottish side are favourites, but Feyenoord must go for a win in De Kuip.

At home, the Rotterdammers have only lost once all season and they should be able to cause Rangers issues, even without Nicolai Jorgensen, should the Dane not make the squad.

The home crowd will get right behind Feyenoord and it will be up to the players to achieve a result that keeps their hopes alive going into the clash with Porto in two weeks.
