PSV Eindhoven are out of the Europa League despite a 2-1 victory over Olympiacos. The Greek side go through 5-4 on aggregate.

After losing the first-leg 4-2 in Greece, PSV needed to win by two goals to seal their progress to the next round. Roger Schmidt kept his 4-2-2-2 formation but started with Olivier Boscagli in midfielder in place of the suspended Ibrahim Sangare. Ryan Thomas was chosen in the midfielder over the fit again Mohamed Ihattaren.

Olympiacos caused some danger early on but it was PSV who took the lead in the 23rd minute with Eran Zahavi heading in the opener.

The striker then doubled the lead just before the break with an excellent free-kick that was curled into the top corner.

Olympiacos showed some attacking intent early in the second half and the Greek side hit the post, while Viergever also cleared off the line. At the other end, Donyell Malen had a good chance to make it 3-0 but his effort was just kept out by the Olympiacos goalkeeper Jose Sa.

Kostas Fortounis hit the bar with a free-kick before Malen hit the post for PSV Eindhoven. That Malen miss proved crucial as Ahmed Hassan netted in the 88th minute to send PSV out.
