finnAccording to the Mirror, Everton are looking to sell Croatian striker Nikica Jelavic, who has been a disappointment since joining from Rangers in 2012.

Coach Roberto Martinez has earmarked Heerenveen’s Alfred Finnbogason as a potential replacement for Jelavic, and has sent scouts to watch the Icelandic international in action.

Finnbogason is the Eredivisie’s top scorer this season with 14 goals in 13 matches, building on his tally of 24 in 31 games last season.

This form has led the 24-year-old to be linked with a number of clubs around Europe including Newcastle United, West Ham United and Roma.

With his contract lasting until 2015, Finnbogason will not be allowed to leave Heerenveen on the cheap, and a fee of around €10 million may be required to convince the Frisian side to part with their star.

The Mirror claim a £2 million bidding war will start in January, but that seems to be way off what Heerenveen require for the striker..
