Ajax scored three goals in the opening 20 minutes as they easily defeat Vitesse 4-0 in Arnhem.

Vitesse has been a bogey team for Ajax in recent years but Erik ten Hag’s side blew the hosts away in the opening twenty minutes on Sunday.

Ajax, who began with David Neres instead of Donny van de Beek, took the lead in the third minute when Hakim Ziyech strode forward with the ball before firing into the net from outside the box. Four minutes later, Klaas-Jan Huntelaar doubled the lead with a header from Ziyech’s free-kick. Then in the 19th minute, good work from Frenkie de Jong led to Neres setting up Dusan Tadic to score the third.

Vitesse had no answer to Ajax and the visitors were comfortable for the rest of the first half. In the 54th minute, Huntelaar made it 4-0 from a Tadic cross to seal the victory.

Ajax now have ten points after four games and sit two points behind leaders PSV Eindhoven. Vitesse remain on five points and sit eighth.
